AWS and HashiCorp have worked together closely for many years on multiple fronts, especially product engineering. As we have done in past years, HashiCorp will announce launch-day support for several new AWS services being unveiled at this week’s re:Invent conference. If you’re attending re:Invent, we have a list of sessions covering HashiCorp topics below as well as information about how we’re involved in other areas of the conference.
Find our booth
HashiCorp is a gold sponsor of this year’s AWS re:Invent. At our booth on the expo floor (Booth #2434) we’ll have experts to explain how each of our products integrate with AWS services and can help facilitate application deployments and infrastructure in the cloud.
Visit our booth down the main aisle of the expo floor, across from the AWS booth.
Twitch.tv livestream with Mitchell Hashimoto
Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 5 p.m. PST, tune in to Twitch.tv, which will be live streaming from the MGM Grand. HashiCorp Co-founder and CTO Mitchell Hashimoto will join the AWS team to talk about all things HashiCorp, including a quick overview of Consul.
AWS GameDay is an interactive team-based learning exercise designed to give players a chance to put their AWS skills to the test in a real-world, gamified, risk-free environment. At AWS GameDay, participants will be able to experience an AWS-driven self-service workshop using AWS to build a deployment of a Vault cluster (with a chance to use Terraform too).
Breakout sessions covering HashiCorp topics
HashiCorp is a key partner for many enterprises that are using or migrating to AWS. Whether organizations become fully cloud-native, or maintain a hybrid infrastructure with cloud and on-premises resources, HashiCorp products will support those heterogeneous environments.
At re:Invent, there will be several breakout sessions and floor presentations discussing how HashiCorp Terraform, Vault, Consul, Packer, and more work with AWS services. Here are the breakout sessions:
Monday, Dec. 2 – CMP208-S – Achieving unparalleled elasticity on AWS at the lowest cost – Join the VP of technical sales at Densify to learn how one line of code in HashiCorp Terraform can unlock workload elasticity by precisely and automatically aligning your application demands with the right AWS resources.
Monday, Dec. 2 – DOP205-S – Amplifying CI/CD helped Wag! reduce release process by 600% – Hear the story of how Wag Labs built a single pane of glass for their DevOps processes with HashiCorp Terraform and GitLab running on top of AWS—cutting its release process time from 40 minutes down to 6.
Monday, Dec. 2 – GPSTEC410 – GitOps compliance on AWS: Enforcing immutable infrastructure – In this chalk talk, see an example of how to enforce immutable infrastructure using AWS Config rules, HashiCorp Terraform and Packer, and AWS CloudFormation with insights in AWS Security Hub.
Monday, Dec. 2, 1:00 PM – CON420-R – Infrastructure as code for containers – Learn how to use the AWS Cloud Development Kit (AWS CDK), AWS CloudFormation, and HashiCorp Terraform to set up containers in Amazon Elastic Container Service (Amazon ECS).
Monday, Dec. 2, 2:30 PM – MOB406-R – Expanding the AWS Amplify CLI: Adding custom features – Learn how to extend the AWS Amplify CLI using the plugin structure. This will include adding new categories and new providers such as HashiCorp Terraform.
Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2:30 PM – GPSTEC344 – HashiCorp Enterprise on AWS best practices – Geared toward current and potential AWS Partner Network (APN) Partners, this session discusses best practices for managing infrastructure as code using HashiCorp Terraform and Vault Enterprise at scale on AWS.
Tuesday, Dec. 3, 1:45 PM – NET211-S – Service mesh across hybrid infrastructure – This talk walks through how to configure AWS Cloud Map and HashiCorp Consul so that you can observe services and manage traffic between the cloud and your data center.
Wednesday, Dec. 4, 5:30 PM – OPN309-R – CI/CD using Jenkins and Spinnaker on Amazon EKS – This talk features a demo using HashiCorp Terraform to provision Jenkins on EC2 and then shows how to build Spinnaker pipelines using Halyard from Armory.
Thursday, Dec. 5, 12:15 PM – NFX205 – Monitoring anomalous application behavior – In this talk, Travis McPeak of Netflix and Will Bengtson of HashiCorp introduce a system built strictly with off-the-shelf AWS components that tracks AWS CloudTrail activity across multi-account environments and sends alerts when applications perform anomalous actions.
Partner booth/show floor/theater speaking slots
Throughout the conference, HashiCorp technical experts and engineers will be speaking at the following HashiCorp partner booths:
– Cognizant – Reducing complexity when moving to the Cloud
– PagerDuty – Consistent Workflows that Enable Digital Operational Excellence
– AppDynamics – Monitoring HashiCorp Consul Service Mesh with AppDynamics CNS
Hope to see you there
HashiCorp products are critical solutions for AWS customers to provision, secure, connect, and run their infrastructure, and are broadly adopted across organizations of all sizes. We hope you’ll attend some of the talks listed above and stop by our booth to learn more about using HashiCorp products with AWS services.
